This past weekend, New Jersey had a wonderful snow storm. Wonderful, because it was our first since Halloween (that's right, NJ had a White Halloween this year). wonderful, because the next few days were near 50 degrees Farenheit, so by Monday morning, it was all gone. And, it was wonderful, because I had a great romantic suspense novel to cuddle up with.
Charliann Roberts' The Sunny Side of the Mountain was that novel.
From the first page of Charliann Roberts' novel, I felt her heroine's heartache and regret. Living a life of abuse, Charliann's Cassandra is living a life of obligation, rather than a life filled with love. Though, her children are everything to her, her marriage to a verbally abusive man, attacks her self-esteem and she loses a sense of her self. Until the day she finally finds herself free of her husband and attracts the attention of two handsome men. Cassandra finds that she may be worthy of love after all.
The Sunny Side of the Mountain is a sweet yet suspenseful romance that keeps you routing for Cassandra and makes you feel as if you are part of the story. The kind of romantic suspense you read on a cold, snowy day, with several cups of your favorite hot beverage. Which is exactly what I did. It was a sweet treat of a read. A five star indeed.
