The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published
How to Write It, Sell It, and Market It...Successfully! By Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry
This is the book I bought on my Sony E-Reader several months ago and I loved it! Then I read that the authors of this book, Arielle and David, would be signing books at BookEnds in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Of course I had to go! So, I visited BookEnds, bought the print-version of the book and signed in to hopefully get picked to pitch my book at their highly rated, Pitchapalooza - an American Idol for writers. It was so, so much fun and voila, I was one of the 20 random aspiring authors to be picked to pitch their book proposal or novel in ONE minute. That's right. You heard me. ONE minute. It was a challenge, but I did it. Out of the 20, I was not the winner, the one chosen to get introduced to a literary agent for a possible book contract.
But I got a better deal. Since I purchased The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published, I was entitled to 20 minutes of David Henry Sterry's time, in which he allowed me to read my query letter so he could critique it and help make it better. He did. But I wasn't done. He was so personable and helpful that I decided I needed his help further. He scheduled an appointment with me and I sat down with David and his wife, Arielle Eckstut, to discuss my publishing options. In one hour's time, Arielle and David helped me to make my first chapter a grabber, tweak my query and synopsis and advised me in creating a social media plan (which I hadn't even known I needed).
Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry deserve my thanks and have my gratitude in helping me on this challenging road to publishing my first book.
